Day One all by myself was good. I'll admit to being dorky -- I cried a little bit after my parents called. They made it to Winchester, PA, and said it was one hell of a ride getting there. They got to the snow storm right as it hit. They both said there were cars ditched all over the place. But they're safe, which was my main concern all day, since every local news station was reporting on the shitty weather and a few were scrolling closings and cancellations. Glad to hear from them!

My first forray into Ter, Laundry Princess, was a complete success! It's almost fun, this doing laundry business. Remind me of my child-like glee as soon as I start bitching about it. It's ridiculous how much I felt like The Shit as I loaded the washing machine and then later put clothes in the dryer. I don't know if it's just a first timer's thing or if it was doing something simply to avoid studying.

On the cullinary front, I made me a nice little dinner of reheated macaroni soup that mom made yesterday (there's a ton of it, if anyone wants some super yummy beef macaroni soup, please feel free to let me know) and I made a salad. Really, it was a collosal case of forgetting what my main course was. I made a macaroni salad. But not the traditional kind with mayonaise and such. I switched it up a little, made it my own. Elbow noodles, cucumber, red pepper, grape tomatoes, and deli turkey tossed in Italian dressing and sprinkled with feta cheese. Not to shabby, I have to say. I made enough for lunch tomorrow and possibly as a side to whatever I attempt for dinner tomorrow. I'm so proud of me!

Since we ran out of dishwasher powder last night, I hand washed my dishes. I was going to anyway, since the dishwasher freaks me out. I was doing pretty well, till I broke a glass. It fell in the sink, so clean up was minimal, and it broke in large chunks. I've nicknamed myself Butterfingers in honor of the occasion.

In other news, I received an application for a Graduate Assistantship in the mail the other day. I applied for one when I applied for grad school, but I think since I had to appeal a couple times, I missed out. I think I have a good shot at it this time, which means what I get on my midterm I'm busting my butt to study for is even more important. I'd be working 20 hours a week and up to $3,000 would go toward my tuition. I have a lot of time to get the application in, but that's my project for tomorrow morning. Then I'm rewarding myself with a movie or a trip to the mall. I haven't gone out sans parents in a very, very, very long time.

Happy Friday!

Thanks for reading,

Ter
