Well, Friday again and for once I really don't know what to talk about. I thought of not updating at all, but why break what's probably the only real routine I've managed to keep up for this amount of time? My week wasn't particularly fascinating. I think the highlight of it was buying Dr. Pepper today.
I kid, I kid!
I think.
We were given this interesting assignment for my Class Management & Discipline class, so I guess I'll talk about that. It was due Wednesday, and even though that was only the second time this class has met (it meets once a week), it rocked my socks. The assignment was such: we had to watch a television show that our potential students would watch -- i.e.: if you're going to teach elementary, watch something they would. Since I'm going for high school students, I basically had to lower my IQ for an evening. Lucky for me, like most of my potential students, I heart South Park.
So I snuggled up on my bed with a notebook and watched the episode where Kyle invited everyone but Cartman to go to Casa Bonita for his birthday. Our assignment was to keep track of all the positive things and negative things that happened as well as the ads that were shown. Within the first minute, Cartman put down Kyle 10 times (cuz of a flashback). I knew I was in for it then. In a good way.
In class, we were put into groups and had to go through everyone's data and create a chart that reflected what we found then present it to the class. Someone else in my group did South Park as well, though a different episode, so we decided to represent our data by network. For Comedy Central, most of our negative data went off our chart, since we capped it at 20+ instances. The other two networks we had were PBS and the WB. For negatives, Comedy Central won, hands down.
The whole class, everyone was cracking up at the data presented. It was just mind boggling. Our professor had told us when she assigned it that we'd probably never look at television the same way again. And I believe her.
I won't stop watching South Park though. Matt and Trey are awesome!
Other than that, all's quiet on this side of the diary. Maybe next week will be more eventful.
Happy weekend!
Thanks for reading,
Ter
