Yo.

I have never been so happy for it to be Monday. This has been one long-ass weekend. I went to two graduations, possibly had food poisoning, and got a kitten. Let's tackle these one at a time.

First off, the graduations. My nephew, K, and Midget 1 graduated within 15 hours of each other. K's graduation lasted almost three blasted hours, which is insane since there were only 31 kids in his class! Then, of course, we had to make an appearance at my sister's for at least an hour. MB drove us to the Northway, and I took over from there, unless I wanted him to rock his way home. One of MB's sworn ways to keep himself away while he's driving is to grip the steering wheel and rock forward and back in double time. Yeah, no way man! So we unsafely pulled over in an exit lane and swapped seats. I was starting to see double a little by the time we got closer to home, but at least there was no rocking. In an effort to keep me awake, MB got me rhyming our sentences in some weird white person hillbilly rap. It was barely amusing, at least to me.

Anyway... Midget 1's graduation was on Saturday. I finally got to meet her new boyfriend who, even though he doesn't look like he's working on all cylinders, is a decent guy to talk to. I haven't seen Midget 1 this happy in a long, long time, so he's got that major plus going for him. After the ceremony, her family, Mom C, MB, and I all went to this Mexican place in the city. Nice ambiance, sexy waiter with an accent (mrowr!), and decent food...

... until later that night when I was getting cozy with the toilet. I'm not one for throwing up, unless I've done drank myself retarded (yes, bad English... it's 7:30 a.m. and I've been up since 5:30. Excuuuuse meeeeee). I got all the standard flu/food poisoning symptoms in bass ackwards order: sick to stomach, then fever chills, then achy all over. My lower back hurt for two days. I ate a little bit yesterday and today's the first time I've wanted food without feeling grokky. I'm not sure if it was the Mexican, since no one we went with got sick. Could have been the pizza we had for dinner, but MB was fine. I have no idea.

The silver lining to all of this is my new litte pea. On Wednesday, Mom C greeted me with, "Button was hit today, want a kitten?" I was rather neutral about Button but I'm still sad she was hit. Her name came from the button shapes on her back. I knew she'd had a kitten, but she'd kept it hidden for the most part. Either that, or I was too distracted with Missy's two cutie pies. I was getting all set (mentally, at least) to adopt a little gray and white I'd dubbed Pussywillow when Mom C hit me with this information.

So we trooped out to see this little mite. Turned out to be a little female, who will eventually have gorgeous green eyes. She's got tiger markings on her face and her color is reminiscent of Hammy/Sherbet (so-named here since Mom C and I have differing opinions on her name). It looks like these two were dusted with black spray paint over their yellow-y orange. I thought long and hard over what to call the new wee one and settled on Phoenix, since she's rising up from her old life into something new.

Phoenix came home with us last night. She's still a bit young, we're estimating her age at six weeks, but she's a love. She purrs when I pet her and follows me around like a little shadow. She's confined to the bathroom and kitchen, since she's still not litter trained yet and MB and I thought the linoleum could take any accidents better than carpet. Tenae is not amused and has been in hiding since we got home. Phoenie is oblivious to Sissy and mees and yews for me, pats my toes, and bounces or toddles everywhere she goes. I'll have pictures soon.

I haven't been near my computer since Wednesday, so I need to go catch up with everything. I'm such an addict!

A happy kitty,

Ter
