Thanks to MB's paranoia, I no longer have carpenter ants to light on fire. It's just as well, because eww. The weekend was rather uneventful. We played D&D on Saturday. Yes, we. I now have a character. It was inevitable. Of course it led to a late night (3 a.m. anyone?) and therefore we slept in, causing the world to stop spinning and setting plagues of locusts on some poor unsuspecting village somewhere -- in Mom C's mind, of course, because Sunday was Mother's Day, dammit, and we should have been Krazy Glued to her hip. Again, yes, we. Clearly I'm her adopted daughter. Guess I didn't get the memo.
But it wasn't such a bad day. MB and I got up to the farm and, finding she was not home, we took it upon ourselves to entertain puppies (not a chore) and tackle Cajun's stall (definitely a chore). MB took 7-8 wheelbarrows of shit out and only put a dent in it. I forked as much as my gag reflex would allow and opted to play with Tapestry, the perpetually preggo barn cat. She has about two litters a year and they're always the best tempered and most gorgeous kittens ever. So I was sucking up to her hardcore so that she'll let me take a kitten when they're ready. She usually has about 4 each time (though Chessie was a solo in a weird twist of fate). I rubbed her Buddha belly for almost an hour, until my hands felt numb. It was great! Mom C did manage to get us to stay until 9, which irked me and made MB twitchy. Neither one of us had planned on staying so late (okay MB had, but whatever).
It's been strange not going to class so far this week. I've got to find a way to make my days productive, else I'll sit in front of this idiot box leveling my EQII characters all day long (I'm up to 4 now for those playing along at home, one main and three alts). I did work a lot on my garden and now I just need to buy some Miracle Gro stuff for dry areas and then I can start planting. The ground is super dry here and some genuis at some point thought it would be a good idea to fill in with unclean dirt -- there's broken glass, pottery, and other miscellaneous junk just waiting to stab me to death. I never realized building this thing would be hazardous to my health.
Anyway, no time for procrastination this morning (although that's exactly what I'm doing writing here). I have one final thing to turn back today before my finals. They're back-to-back (1 and 3:30) which leaves me no time between to do anything but get to the classrooms and print what I need to. They're doing their demos today (there; ha! So I could get in all three there's in one sentence -- dork!). Haven't told them they're not being graded per se, and maybe I won't. After my finals, I have a meeting for the summer workshop I've been trying to teach at for the last couple summers. My department chair called me the other night with mediocre news (his words) that I have three enrolled and need at least two more to go forward. It doesn't seem likely, but I'm going to the meeting anyway to get to meet my chair and see the other teachers etc. Networking, bascially. And schmoozing. And hopefully there's food, since it's at 7 p.m. After that, up to the farm to watch Top Chef with Mom C. I did (finally) order this shirt and I'm antsy for it to get here already! I can think of a million places I'd love to wear that shirt so certain people can see it...
... and in an odd twist of events, I'm listening to classing NKOTB this morning. I think it's time I get to work. Ugh, don't want to.
Ohh-ohh ohh ohh ohh!
