It's a positively gorgeous day today and I'm in here in front of the idiot box. I see my priorities are well-placed.

I don't normally get too incensed about news stories I read, but this one really has my shorts in a knot.

So this week has been a piece of cake, thanks to the lovely weather and my birthday on Tuesday. As per usual, Mom C OD'd on my gifts, giving me a nice set of sheets, a bajillion (okay, three) cards, and some uber-expensive perfume... which I'm wearing right now and wish I could smell like this naturally. Last night I was treated to dinner at a very special restaurant, one I'm not sure I've mentioned here before. It's a house that dates back to the pre-Revolutionary days and has a menu that is to die for. I just finished my leftovers a little bit ago and wish that they had multiplied in the fridge over night. This is one of those "lick your plate" good restaurants. It's a wonderful experience -- the staff wears period costume -- and if it wasn't so darn expensive I'd eat there every day and twice on Sunday.

I had two interviews this week, yesterday and this morning. Yesterday's was at a community college MB went to. I interviewed to be a Technical Assistant, which at first I thought was a glorified secretary, but it turns out to be pretty writing intensive and involving keeping in touch with everyone and their brother on campus. Today's was at a private college to be a summer adjunct for an Opportunity Program. I'd be working with students who struggle and need extra help. Hopefully something will come of them. I'll keep y'all posted.

We're heading to the farm tomorrow morning to work on the fence in the big field. I'm ambivalent right now about it. I'm more looking forward to our poker night. Of course that means I'll need to do the bulk of the cleaning tonight so I won't have to worry about it tomorrow when we get back. Then again, panic cleaning can be just as productive as regular cleaning. I have papers to grade -- essays and quizzes, joy in the morning -- but I'll deal with them later, perhaps Sunday, or even Monday morning. I'm still in birthday mode and enjoying my happy mood. I'm debating between reading or EQ'ing before I go tutor and run errands, and I think it's obvious at this point which will win out in the end.

Enjoying this wonderful Friday,

Ter
